HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral Services  

Goals

HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral Services is a collection of activities designed to increase client’s knowledge of their HIV status; encourage and support risk reduction; and secure needed referrals for appropriate services (medical, social, prevention, and partner services).

How it Works

CWP provides, free of charge, HIV testing via the Clearview Complete HIV ½ as well as via Blood Draw.
Client’s that receive CTRS from the Community Wellness Project are provided with, a) risk assessment, b) counseled on meaning of possible zero negative and/or zero positive result which will be delivered within 15 to 20 minutes, c) tested via the rapid HIV testing method (Clearview Complete HIV ½), finger prick, d) given result and counseled on reducing risk behaviors and/or prevention on infecting others if positive, e) develop a personalized prevention plan, if client test positive for HIV a confirmatory (oral swab/blood draw) will be administered and sent to the lab, a result should be back within 2 weeks at which time client has been given an appointment to return to CWP for confirmatory result, and to go over personalized prevention plan, f) if client is zero positive, linkage to care will be offered/provided. Other referrals will be offered as needed.
CWP offers free of charge, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing via Urine specimen. CWP also offers Hepatitis C counseling and testing via the OraQuick Rapid Antibody Test method, result in 15 to 20 minutes. If clients’ test positive for any of these test referrals will be offered.
