RIG Program
The Regional Implementation Group (RIG) is an MSM-Focused prevention program aimed at providing HIV prevention services to Illinois residents at highest risk for transmitting or acquiring HIV disease.
Program goals
The RIG grant is tailored to serve the MSM (men who have sex with men) population by providing education on condom use, safer sex practices, and HIV prevention strategies. The program distributes safer sex and harm reduction materials and supports a statewide initiative encouraging individuals to know their HIV status and engage in routine testing.
The Regional HIV Prevention Grants goal is for the highest risk populations to be served, and that effective behavioral interventions be provided annually based upon recommendations of the Illinois HIV integrated Planning Council (IHIPC). Currently prioritized risk population and interventions are included in the most recently published Illinois Prioritize Risk Group Definitions and Points of Consideration as well as the most recently published HIV prevention Intervention & Strategy Guidance for IDPH HIV Prevention Grantees. CWP currently serves as a regional HIV prevention agency and provides delivery of services in the Region 4 area (southern region) of the state of Illinois to redress disparities in prevention services that effective behavioral and or biomedical HIV prevention interventions and strategies.
