Testing

Targeted Testing is a strategy, which allows CWP to focus on individuals who are members of communities with a high prevalence of HIV in the St. Louis TGA. We use two different HIV testing kits. Our one-minute Insti kit detects the presence of infection via the antibody. Our Determine kit detects the presence of infection via the antibody and the p24 antigen.

Additional testing performed by a medical provider can confirm infection, measure viral load, and prescribe medication to treat infection. The goal of testing is to help link newly diagnosed individuals into care and prevent new HIV incidences (new HIV cases) by knowing their HIV status, wearing condoms, using lube, and taking PrEP.
